Save a lot of disk space with Monolingual

Hey! This a great freeware to free up lots of disk space. It is particularly useful on portable computer since the disk space is usually very limited but it's still great for every Mac. Basically what it does is it strips out the languages you choose to remove from your operating system. Mac OS X is very multicultural and comes with tons of languages and most of us only speak one, two, maybe three. The title can be confusing as it says "Mono" but you really have the choice of what languages you want to remove and the one you want to keep. Another great thing is that it's a universal binary. I suggest you take a look here on MacUpdate. See you tomorrow!

Excellent...as a brand new Mac owner (two weeks since conversion, my XP machine sobs lonely in the corner), your tips have been so valuable.

I'm glad to hear that the tips are useful. The Mac environment is amazing, even after years, I still discover new things all the time. MacGeek.

The Bad News: It took me 2 hrs. 4 min. to run this.

The REALLY Bad: I can no longer communicate in Tigrinya, Uighur, Urdu, or many other obscure languages.

The GREAT News: It freed up 1.37GB!

This is terrific news for people with antiquated Macs (iMac G3 400 DV SE) with a ridiculously small System partition (8GB). I had only 1.63GB of free space on this partition, but now I have 3.GB!

I plan on gradually migrating to Mac. I have 7 Windows boxes at home, so I've got my work cut out for me. This G3 is just to get me familiarized with OSX. My laptop has a service plan from Best Buy that's soon-to-be replaced under their lemon policy. Anyone know if they'll let you replace it with a Mac ProBook off bestbuy.com? I've always gotten a replacement laptop (3 times!) from store stock.

MacGeek, Thanks for another great post!

1.37GB?
that's a hell of a lot!
I've got only 516MB on my tiger... dunno...
any way - great site! I've switched to mac 3 months ago and I still feel kinda lost (after being a pro user of all the pre-vista windows incarnations) - there are times i dont know how sth is working, but im getting though this, partly thanks to you MacGeek.

PS there are times when i feel so overconfident with my mac (i used to PWN the whole winOS) that I break everything own. Recently i erased my library b accident. I had to reinstall the OS. and i had no back ups. i suck, but m learning on my mistakes...
keep up the good work here!
cheers!
