Clear Dock!

I really like having the Dock hidden, but I also want to be able to customize it even further than the Finder lets me. I think a transparent Dock looks a lot better. The icons simply look like they are floating over the background. I also like changing the color of the triangle that is under the icons. This free application called Clear Dock is available on MacUpdate and does all this! Once it is installed, the customization can be done in System Preferences under "Application Enhancer".

You must actually have Application Enhancer installed to see that preference pane.

Quite a few people have reported problems with Application Enhancer. I would recommend against its use.

Not recommended at all! I was using it but Application Enhancer was crashing my machine twice or three times daily, avoid this one!!! It's better to wait for TransparentDock to be Universal.

I usually hide the dock, I just hit the command and option keys, + click D key. That hides the dock when you are needing lots of screen space.

Then to configure the Dock, I use Onyx.

Can I just suggest, for usabilities sake that you change the way you're linking to things in your posts considering you're using keywords to pop open ads.

I kept clicking on 'applications' thinking it was going to take me to what the post is about, because of the convention of making individual words in your body of text links.

May I suggest a "Download Here" line at the end of your post or something?

Yes, Andy! Thank you! Please, do what this man is asking. I love this blog, but the links drive me nuts.

A much better solution without using Application Enhancer is a great app. called Transparent Dock. It has more choices, is updated with every new release of OS, and is donation ware. If you want no background for your dock this is the way to go IMHO

This APE Breaks Widgets on your dashboard. I removed it about ten minutes after I installed it. Strongly suggest you look else where for tweaking tools.

I suggested ClearDock instead of Transparent Dock because ClearDock is a Universal Binary. I didn't know so many people had problems with it. It's been running fine for me since a while. If you want to uninstall it, you just have to rerun the Installer and choose "Uninstall". Also thanks for your suggestions, I will make sure the download link is obvious next time with a "Download Here" link.

I have used this for a while and it works fine. I had the problem with it not working at first, but apparently you need to reboot for it to take effect.

Haven't had any problems with AE.

I installed Clear Dock a few hours ago, and had no problems at all. It's really beautiful! My little triangles are now orange over the black from the desktop background. Thanks for the tip!
ps: I agree with Peter about the links.
