Leopard styled iChat!

This cool free iChat add-on might not give you everything the Leopard version of iChat gives you but there are still many Leopard exclusive features. You basically won't get the backdrops or iChat theater, but you can get great features such as tabbed chat windows and a lot of other customization possibilities. You can get iChat to set your status to "Away" automatically when the screen-saver starts, you can get Growl notifications, you can set a notification message when you quit iChat and there are still active conversations, you can auto-accept text invitations or incoming files (you can set to accept only files from a certain group to reduce the security threats) and you can get notifications in your Dock. The feature that really got me to download it is the tabbed chat, but I can tell you that I started liking all the customization options after a while. You can download Chax here on MacUpdate. Once it is installed, you can set the preferences in the iChat preferences. A new tab called "Chax" will be added in the preferences. Screenshot from MacUpdate:

Any place to get a program similar to stacks for free? I am pretty sure most people that use iChat know about this extension.

Adium is also a great program for Macs. I think that iChat is way behind Adium in this game. The tab feature has long been a part of Adium program and what I like most about Adium is that you can be signed on to several accounts such as AOL, YAHOO, MSN, etc. at the same time and it all shows up in the same buddy list. You can also customize the fonts, the background of the lists, make it invisible, and more. The only feature it lacks is video and voice chat but rumors abound that it is coming soon. It's free too.

Great add on! Anyway if you Google here and there you can find a way to chat with your MSN contacts using iChat! I use iChat for my MSN contact ;)

Yup Adium rocks, and wont be easy to beat by iChat.

I just hope video and audio chat get to be added soon.

If yoou are looking for Video and Audio, I hear that Qnext supports both. I have downloaded it but have not had a chance to confirm that it works yet.

Is there any plug in that allows you to go "invisible" but still remain on line? I know Leopard will have this, but I'd like it sooner if possible.

Adium (www.adiumx.com) is a much better overall messaging client than iChat or iChat + Chax combined.

you don't need a program to do stacks on tiger, you can drag folders from the finder onto the right hand side of the dock next to the trash, and then right clicking on them will show their contents.....you don't get the flashy animation though it just gives the folder contents as a list
