"New Tab" button in Firefox and Camino!

A great tip submitted by Andrew: "New Tab" button in Firefox and Camino! Even though you can easily bring up a new tab by hitting "Command-T" in any web browser, many users prefer the actual "New Tab" button. The latest web browsers don't really have this feature. Well, it turns out that a feature built into Firefox and Camino does nearly the same thing. When the tab bar is already visible (you already have two tabs open), you can double-click anywhere in the blank area of the tab bar. You'll instantly get a new blank tab! It unfortunately doesn't work in Safari. Thanks for the great tip Andrew!

um yeah, this does work with safari too, you just have to enable tabbing by going to preferences and tabs. btw who actually goes up to file-new tab anyway? it kind of defeats the point of the convenience of them

In Safari, if you Ctrl + click on the tab bar, it brings up a "New Tab" option, which you can then click for a new tab.

You only need to have one tab open in Firefox, not two.

If you're using SafariStand, it ads a new tab button to the "Customize toolbar" menu (you acces it by ctrl clicking the toolbar and clicking "customize toolbar")

In Firefox, if you go to view>toolbars>customize, you can actually drag a 'new tab' button to anywhere on the toolbar.

In Safari (v3 Beta), all you need to do is "Apple" + Click on a link to open it in a new tab, or just "Apple" + "T" to open a new blank tab.

Its great to read all the different ways to have your tabs open up. I like the double tap on the tab bar, it is really nice! Thanks for the tip!

Camino does have a "New Tab" button, too, but I like the double click method. I use both at different times.

Also in Camino, one can have the tab bar open with just one tab. Just tell Camino in your preferences that that's what you want.

Thank you. It really annoyed me that my husband's internet explorer had a tiny empty tab next to the ones in use and Firefox didn't, double clicking is perfect!
