Controlling the sound in iTunes!

You can easily control the sound in iTunes by simply scrolling. It works if you have a Mighty Mouse or a scrolling trackpad because you have to scroll horizontally. It will let you control the sound adjustment that is in the top bar, in the left corner, at the right of the back/play/next. It only works when the mouse is right on top of it. So instead of clicking on it and dragging it, you can just scroll. Here is an example (at the beginning and the end, it works because I am right on top of it):

Is there a way to pause i-tunes without actually going to the i-tunes window (if it's in the background with a minimized window). I can do volume controls through the keys on my keyboard. But it would be great to also be able to pause the music without getting into i-tunes.

i have a MacBook with the remote, which i use to change the volume, change the track, and pause the music while i am running other things. that prb doesn't help you if you don't have a MacBook/MacBook Pro, but i tried

I love my mac, i'll make that loud and clear. But.

I HATE how soft the sound is... it's just not loud enough to do anything, regardless of itunes being all the way up. I'm in India, don't have speakers, and my friends' Windows OS's have much better sound, but my comp has better music.

Any ideas/help would be GREATLY appreciated.... beckymwebster@gmail.cm .... thank you sO much....

You can also use Cmd-Up_arrow and Cmd-Down_arrow to change the volume. I find this much easier than mousing over to the volume changer.

Just my two cents. (Or .02, or 2¢, or $0.02, or $2/100, or 2 cents, or.....)

The way to improve the sound greatly is using a program called Volume Logic, which you can find here: http://www.octiv.com/index.asp?content=iTunes

And there is a free demo, so you can see, it totally makes iTunes rock. Best program I've bought when it comes to music.

As for pausing your iTunes, I use Quicksilver and I setup up Ctrl+Up Arrow to pause my iTunes and Ctrl+Right arrow for next song, Ctrl+Left arrow for previous song and Ctrl+Down arrow to show the currently playing songs information. You can set these up under Triggers\iTunes in the Quicksilver setup.

Quicksilver also allows you to easily play anything you want in iTunes without switching out of the app you're currently in. Can't recommend Quicksilver highly enough. It's free and it's here: http://quicksilver.blacktree.com/

Hey Becky! Have you discovered the pre-amp in the the equalizer window? Just hit Option+Command+2 and then turn your pre-amp all the way up! That should help some!!!

I use iMote (http://www.mkd.cc/imote/), it's free........ and awesome! You can control from the menu bar and/or set up hot keys to control iTunes even if you are in another app. You can also set up growl notifications which will flash album art and track info when a song changes. At this point I couldn't live without it. Seriously.
