The backup schedule of Time Machine!

A great tip submitted by Dominic P. Tremblay: The backup schedule of Time Machine! I have to admit, looking at Time Machine's preferences, it is somewhat disappointing. I think Time Machine is really great, but its weakness is that it is not customizable in the slightest. Some third-party applications have started cropping up, changing that. There is a great one called "TimeMachineScheduler" that lets you change how much time there is between backups. It will let you set anything between 1 to 12 hours. You can download or get more info about TimeMachineScheduler here on the developer's site. Thanks for the tip Dominic!

Does anyone know how to have an icon on your website on the address field,(on the left, like Google has a "G"), using iWeb

if you know what the name of the icon is (it's called favicon) then google helps you :)

there are tutorials for iweb...

but in short, i read somewhere that you have to put the favicon.ico on your idisk in the same folder than the index.html iweb creates... and thats it...

Never understood why this was not possible in Time Machine itself. But I would like to be able to set a time schedule with specific hours. For example no backup between 00:00 and 9:00, when I'm asleep....(mac always running)

Stopping backups at midnight is a bit of a false economy, in my opinion.

If there's nothing to backup, Time Machine won't back anything up. (Or, at least, I'm pretty sure that's the behavior I've observed. At any rate, even if it does create a backup, since no files changed, it will take hardly any space.)

But imagine the night you're working really late to meet an important deadline. You're very tired and accidentally mess up what you were working on. But alas, your backups stopped three hours ago! I'd be kicking myself for days if I did that to myself.

An interesting alternative to Time Machine -- same easy automatic, but with a lot more control!

I know this is an old thread put current topic nevertheless..

@riezs
Yes, it's actually possible to do this with the help of AppleScript and iCal.

I've written full instructions in my blog.

@Darcy
I don't like my backups starting in the morning when I know I'm quite likely to leave the flat with my laptop and don't want to risk having to stop the backup.

Alternatively, you could use the Secrets prefPane:
