Grammar check in TextEdit!
I believe this is only part of the Leopard version of TextEdit. By default, TextEdit checks spelling, but it can also check the grammar. You can enable it in the TextEdit preferences. Once enabled, it will check grammar as you type.

I thought this sounded great, but as soon as I tried a few basic tests with some bad grammatical mistakes, it simply didn't spot them. The only thing it seemed to pick up were making sure there was a capital letter at the start of a sentence or in a name.
A shame.
Is there a way to save on Pages 08, in a format Microsoft Word can read?
I actually turn it off, because I use Textedit a lot for coding (I also use subethaedit)... And since most coding in not in English, I certainly don't want the grammar and the spell check...

You are right Mr. Gone. I can't get it to react to lower case type at the beginning of sentences. As an apple pie lover, this bothers me.

Some applications, such as TextEdit, let you set a preference to enable the feature for all new documents. You can also enable this feature for all documents in applications that support this feature. To do so, select “Correct spelling automatically” in the Text pane of Language & Text preferences.
